Chris Norman is “Ambassador”
It’s well known that Chris is a star who’s close to his audience, an experience that more than 3500 enthusiastic fans made in Erfurt’s exhibition hall when they cheered the former Smokie front man.
In addition to a fantastic show Chris Norman showed a big heart. Klaus Dieter Herber, chairman of the association "Children's Hospice MidGermany”, Matthias Jendricke, Mayor of Nordhausen and Willibald Böck, president of “Friends of Children's Hospice”, were personally invited by Chris Norman to his gig in Erfurt. "We have tried hard and were successful at the end," said Heber after the concert. For weeks the team worked hard on winning Chris Norman as ambassador of the MidGerman children’s hospice. Right after a concert in Erfurt all desire became reality. Chris Norman was deeply touched, when his official certificate was handed over by Nordhausen’s Mayor Matthias Jendricke , said: "It is an honor for me as a father and musician, to be an ambassador. I promise to come with my band later this year to collect money for sick children. On Saturday 09th of September 2006 Chris made this promise come true and played live at the “Petersberg” in Nordhausen for the benefit of the Children’s hospice.

This and That

The Fanclub
Fanmeeting 2009
This year’s fan meeting took place in a typical Ruhr-setting.
On Saturday 31st of Oct. - Halloween, our meeting started at about 5pm in Duisburg/Germany and lasted until about 1.30 clock in the morning. Nearly 8 hours we sat together, talked, laughed and played one or the other "Chris Game". Fans from all parts of Germany met and new contacts have been established ...
But as usual ,we start from the beginning….
When we started the detailed planning for our fan meeting, we quickly had to answer the question of what we’ll do all night. Of course it is mainly about having fun and talking about Chris and his music, which can certainly fill a whole evening, no question ... but is that enough? Of course not ..
Knowing that everybody will get hungry, we had some kind of a “Pre dinner” and checked the menu some days before.
Finally, we should have been able to offer something for every taste and for every diet.
So we had finally put on 4 different dishes to choose which all tasted great. A genuine piece of culture of the Ruhr area: hearty food and huge portions!
Before, during and after dinner we all had so much fun when someone told about he’s or her beginning of being a Chris Fan. It seemed that our bedrooms all looked the same at that time, only the arrangements of the posters were different…
And what we’ve have all done to get newspaper reports at that time, just incredible! Have you actually also collected every little snippets of something like a 1x1cm great pictures of our star? After dinner, we spent the following hours with very different "Chris games".
Gabi prepared all the games on her endless ways on the motorway and finally they should have been funny but quite hard to solve...
On a table, the participants found 5 boxes, wrapped in brown paper, and each with a number of 1-5 labeled. Before any of the upcoming games had been played, a package was selected by one of the participants and apart from Gabi, who packed the boxes , nobody knew what was inside...
So the excitement grew even more, of course, and everyone did his/her very best to win one of the games.
The first game was:, "Which song is it?"
It was just about listening to some short parts of a song and write down the title.. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? This is what all guests thought as well first but it turned out pretty hard to do quickly …
You know all Chris Songs for ages, you listen to them regularly but when you just listen to some seconds of a song without lyrics, without vocals, just instruments you might fail… You should have seen the faces of everyone! Everybody rocked, started to sing and…. looked helpless.
“I know this song for sure!, Goodness, that’s my cell phone ringtone but what is this song called?”
"Can I call my telephone joker?" Or "At least at “Who wants to be a millionär” you get 4 possible answers to choose from, why don’t we get them? After we have listened to the music file again and again everybody sang along meanwhile but they still didn’t know what they were listening to…
When Gabi told them which song it was, it sounded like that: “Oh yes, exactly” or “I should have known the song, this is my favorite of all times!….
Anett Hönicke was the winner of this little song competition and she got the wrapped box which was chosen before.
Under a flurry of flashbulbs Annett has then opened the box and everyone was excited to see what she has won. There were many beautiful things in the box but this packet was not yet the first prize,
After so much effort we all needed a break so the balcony turned out to a "chill-out zone " but everyone was too curious about the
contents of the left boxes…
The 2nd Game was much easier…
"What do you think Chris has answered? Chris had received a list of multiple choice questions, which he has kindly answered immediately.
Winner of this game was a brand new FC member! Elke Foerster received package No. 2, and this also included handsome prices, such like a teddy bear with a T-shirt on, which was signed by Chris and this little bear, now has a place of honor in her apartment ... like Elke said,
Well, Package No. 2 was not the grand prize .... Quickly smoked a cigarette on the balcony and then everybody wanted to keep on playing the next game The atmosphere was thrilling in some way and we continued after having ordered “just another drink”…
Meanwhile, the clock showed 10pm... Time runs by so fast when you sit together and have fun. No one seemed to be tired….
Before playing game No 3 we decided for the next number of the box. Will this one the NO. 1 Price? We will see…
Slowly it became clear that we must approach the main prize, because there were only 3 boxes left on the table ...
"Which song are we looking for?" Initially it sounds similar to game No. 1, but here the guests had to "think outside the box...
Martina Meurer was the winner of this game and opened package No 3 while the rest of us took a photo of this action And now guess whether that was the grand prize? Of course not!
So it either had to be the box with the No. 4 or No. 5 on top... What a exciting situation….
To calm down the rising excitement and after a short cigarette break we did some “pantomime ". This time it was just for fun and the participants were quite creative and showed talent for acting, when it came to represent a song title of Chris . Some of the offered solutions were quite bizarre and caused lots of laughter! Just like the fact that many of us constantly put on and off their glasses . We are not getting younger at all, hahaha
The clock showed almost 11pm when we started the next round,
Finally, there were still 2 boxes left to win and one of these had to be the first price!
The A-Z game was a fast-paced game, Within 6 minutes Chris songs should be found from A-Z with the exception of the letters X and Z, and Petra Herrlich got one of the two left boxes.
She herself decided not to open it till the last game was played and the winner of that game got the very last box .
And with the last box's new owner, Beate Kroef (She was the winner of the "Find the error" game)... we reached the grand finale…
A dark blue jacket, , is a tour jacket of "The Hits" tour, which was donated by Chris manager kindly. A white shirt, was the 1st Price , which was graciously donated byChris himself. Thus the "authenticity" also can be proved, Chris even attached a signed photo saying: "Here I'm wearing the shirt, hope you enjoy it, love Chris"
Congratulations dear Petra and Beate!
But all the others, of course didn’t went home with empty-hands, for each there was a "welcome gift" from the FC team and plenty of consolation prizes for those who have not won in the games.
Together we spend about 8 hours, had endless topics of conversation, shared memories together laughed and played, put the glasses on and off, and met new people.
That was the fan meeting 2009th.
A big Thank you from us to all who were there, and to all who unfortunately were unable to come: We will be delighted to
welcome you in 2010!
The new date seemed to be 30th of Oct.2010 but we don’t yet know what the new year will bring for Chris Fans so this date
isn’t fixed at all yet. We will let you know as soon as possible, OK?!
It was a great night with lots of fun and we are looking forward for the next time! So let’s
